Nothing like being sick to make you miss home a lot.
I managed to stay healthy the whooole entire year and all the sudden, I had to catch the flu when I'm in New Orleans... just my luck -_- And I'm the type that when I get sick, it's not a small little cough or a sniffle here and there, no no no, I turn into a coughing/sneezing/achey machine!
Even in East Lansing, I was still in Michigan (obviously). My parents were only an hour away and my sister was barely ten minutes away (Nazifa can't help being so far away in Oregon!) Family members tend to want to be near you more so when you're sick (ironically enough) cause they want to take care of you, feed you food, and watch bad movies with you. Spending the whole day stuck in my apartment with aches and chills and coughing... nothing makes you more homesick and wanting your parents and sisters nearby. And then it really hits you that they'll be not near you for 3 months!
I'm a little sad right now. In a new place, new surroundings, new (but so far awesome) people, the unfamiliar can seem... scary.
Yeah yeah, it's been one week, but I'm the baby of my family!! I hang out with my family a lot when I was home and it's really really weird not to have them nearby!
I guess this is what being on your own is like... I'm sure it gets better :P
Toodles from the literal homesick panda from NOLA. I am going to probably sleep the rest of the day.
